When do you use Bang Bang Sauce?
- This sauce is perfect for making bang bang chicken bites, skewers, Shrimp, or Salmon. Season your meat and grill/air fry/bake them as usual. When they are almost ready to be done, brush the meat with the sauce and cook for a few more minutes. Serve with more sauce. It’s so good!
- This is perfect as a dipping sauce for Panko shrimp, Chicken nuggets, and Chicken strips. Especially if you’re having a party and you want to serve an easy appetizer, make some frozen panko shrimp or chicken popcorn and serve it with your homemade sauce. It’s always a hit.
- I love it with my rice bowls. Great with Tuna bowls, Salmon bowls, or grilled chicken rice bowls with Jasmine rice.
- You can also use it for Asian-inspired burritos, tacos, nachos, loaded fries, and even as a sauce for burgers and sandwiches.
- The possibilities with this sauce are endless. I hope you give this super easy and versatile Bang Bang Sauce recipe a try. Let me know which food you served it with too..
Ingredients info:
Do not get intimidated by the long list. You probably have all these ingredients in your pantry already. Even if you don’t, it’s okay. The recipe is very forgiving. You can honestly make a really good sauce by just combining Mayo and Sweet chili sauce. The other ingredients are there to add some more flavor and a little bit of a spicy kick.

Mayonnaise:
Use a good-tasting mayonnaise. It makes a huge difference. I like to use Japanese Kewpie Mayo. I also like the Duke’s Mayo. But you can use any good tasting mayonnaise you like.
Sweet Chili Sauce
I love Mayploy brand sweet chili sauce which is a Thai brand. They are usually available in the International Aisle of the grocery store. If not, go to your nearest Asian grocery store, they’ll most definitely have it.
Sriracha
I usually use Flying Goose brand Sriracha chili sauce. Huy Fong Food is another very good Sriracha brand. It adds a nice spicy kick and a little tangy flavor to the sauce. If you don’t like any heat, skip this ingredient. Sriracha is usually available in Asian grocery stores. And in some Chain grocery stores in the US. Check the international food aisle.
Rice Vinegar
Rice vinegar has a sweet tangy flavor that’s very unique. It balances out the sweet flavor of the sweet chili sauce. It’s available in Asian grocery stores and you can get it shipped from Amazon too. You can add apple cider vinegar or lemon juice as a substitute. If the sauce turned out a little too tangy for your taste, add some honey or sugar to balance it out.
Cayenne pepper/Paprika
It’s an optional ingredient but adds a nice kick of spice. Cayenne is hotter than Paprika. I usually add cayenne since I love hot food. If you like it milder, reduce the amount of chili powder you add, or use a non-spicy chili powder.
Granulated Garlic/ Garlic powder
A bit of granulated garlic or garlic powder in the sauce adds a nice flavor without making it too garlicky. You can use chili garlic sauce too if you prefer that.
Black Pepper
Freshly ground black pepper for a nice hint of peppery flavor.
Storing Bang Bang Sauce
You can make the sauce ahead of time and keep it in the fridge for about a week. I usually store mine in a squeeze bottle. This way I can easily use this as a condiment for various food.
I hope you try this super easy recipe a try. There is no cooking needed. You just have to mix the ingredients in a bowl and it doesn’t take any more than 5 minutes to do it. The sauce goes with so many kinds of food which makes it a perfect party condiment. Don’t forget to let me know if you try it! I love your feedback!
